David Mills, Clockhouse Nursery, using Osmocote CRF, PRESTOP® and Exemptor as part of their Levington Advance Solutions

ICL’s Levington Advance Solutions tailored growing media programme allows you to Grow, Nurture and Protect your crops throughout the growing season in complete confidence. Situated at Forty Hill, just inside the M25 near Enfield in North London, the Clockhouse nursery has a turnover of £3million. The nursery is run by the founder’s grandson David Mills. “While originally we self mixed, we’ve switched to Levington Advance Solutions mixes,” says David. “For precision nutrition we rely on Osmocote Hi.End or Osmocote Exact Standard. We use Osmocote Bloom in all our bedding production.” Clockhouse is now also incorporating PRESTOP® bio-fungicide in to their Levington Advance Solutions bespoke mixes. “Since using PRESTOP® 95% of our bare root perennials have taken.

“While the growing media quality and consistency is always good, so too is ICL’s service which is efficient and friendly.” LALLEMAND PLANT CARE

PRESTOP® from Lallemand Plant Care, is a biofungicide

that contains the mycelia and spores of a naturally occurring, highly aggressive, soil-borne fungus (Gliocladium catenulatum fungal strain J1446) which survives in the rhizosphere and on the aerial parts of plants for several weeks, affecting a wide range of damaging plant pathogens.

Using the product to treat soil, growing media and substrates provides protection against damping-off and root or base rot diseases caused by a range of pathogens such as Phytophthora, Pythium, Rhizoctonia and Fusarium. Aerial treatments protect against Grey Mould and Cankers caused by Botrytis spp as well as other pathogens such as Didymella (Mycosphaerella). ®

PRESTOP - what you need to know:

• Protectant biological fungicide (not curative) • Several application methods are effective • Likes the same conditions as the target pathogens • Can be stored for 12 months when kept below 4°C • Has a maximum allowable concentration of 500g in 100L water • Is registered for all protected crops and outdoor Strawberry • Has an extensive number of outdoor crops covered by the EAMU go to www.icl-sf.co.uk / www.icl-sf.ie for full EAMU

• Compatible with a number of active substances (please consult the compatibility list at the back of this guide)

ORNAMENTAL PLANTS Ornamental plants are particularly susceptible to diseases because of the intensive nature of the cropping cycles. Root diseases are particularly damaging at the early stages of the crop before establishment. Aerial diseases such as Botrytis can be a problem in cool damp conditions and a good protective disease programme is key. PRESTOP® is invaluable in these situations. Pre-mix into your growing media With ICL’s Levington Advance Solutions bespoke mixes PRESTOP® can be incorporated into your growing media with ease for peace of mind.

Protects against a broad spectrum of diseases in ornamental crops including:

• Pythium • Phytophthora • Rhizoctonia • Fusarium

Drench applications Premixed as part of a Levington Advance Solution • Incorporate 200-500g of PRESTOP® per M3 of growing media (1,000L) • If disease pressure is high use the 500g rate. For subsequent treatment follow guidance for drenching containers

Dip applications Dip Cuttings • Dip cuttings at striking or dip foliage and stems in 0.5% solution (100g in 20L of water)

If unable to apply initially in growing media you are able to apply PRESTOP® as a drench to plants/crops to protect against: • Pythium • Phytophthora • Rhizoctonia • Fusarium Application rate • General drench rate: 100g PRESTOP® in 20L water (0.5% solution). This is the same rate for spray, drench and dip applications • For drench rates use 10% by volume of the container as drench solution e.g. 1L pot = 1,000ml X 10% = 100ml of solution per pot

• Dip foliage before inserting in growing media Dip usage • Botrytis (only dip stems and foliage) Application Rates • General dip rate: 100g PRESTOP® in 20L water (0.5% solution). This is the same rate for spray, drench and dip applications • Use the same 0.5% made up solution for spray and dip applications. Use enough solution to cover foliage and/ or stems This guide is to be used in conjunction with the label ICL recommended plan Incorporate into growing media (once per crop) and for continuous protection apply every 4-6 weeks as spray/drench Young Seedlings and plants Seedlings and young plants are at risk during germination, emergence and establishment. Although the growing environment is important, a good, robust preventative fungicide programme is essential. The first 2-3 weeks after germination is when disease is likely to attack. PRESTOP® is an excellent protectant fungicide which can be applied in a number of ways and will protect against these pathogens.

Spray applications When spraying use enough of the solution to achieve good coverage using a medium quality spray at a maximum 3 Bar pressure. Pressure regulator devices are available which will regulate pressure at the nozzle. Spray usage protects against: • Botrytis This guide is to be used in conjunction with the label Application Rates • General spray rate : ® 100g PRESTOP in 20L water (0.5% solution). This is the same rate for spray, drench and dip applications • Use the same 0.5% made up solution for spray and dip applications. Use enough solution to cover foliage and or stems ICL recommended plan Apply as high volume spray or drench at above rates. Treat from sowing to emergence and for continuous protection repeat every 3-4 weeks

STRAWBERRY Strawberries is one of the largest produced soft fruit crops in the UK and Ireland, but like any other plant are susceptible to disease if not protected throughout the growing season. Diseases such as Botrytis can be damaging to a flowering strawberry crop and result in lower yields and damage to the developing fruit. PRESTOP® provides protection to help growers maximise their fruit quality and crop yields. To protect against Botrytis • Apply at growth stage BBCH 61 (at flowering and thereafter) • 3 applications per crop with a 7 day spray interval • Latest time of application – end of flowering Application Rates • General spray rate: Up to 6kg in 1200L of water per hectare (0.5%)+ +

If you can obtain full coverage with less water remember to keep the dilution at 0.5%

Botrytis symptoms

To protect against Pythium & Phytophthora Drench with 0.5% solution or utilise drip irrigation system. Adjust amount of solution to take into account growing media moisture. Application rate • Drench and irrigation applications: 100g PRESTOP® in 20L water (0.5% solution) Timings • Repeat every 4-6 weeks depending on conditions and disease pressure

Phytophthora symptoms

PRESTOP® has on label approval for use on protected and outdoor strawberry production.

PROTECTED CUCUMBER, TOMATO, PEPPER, LETTUCE & OTHER PROTECTED VEGETABLES Cucumbers are susceptible to attack from Mycosphaerella (Didymella) and PRESTOP® provides preventative control of this damaging disease. Can be used for Fusarium and Botrytis prevention in cucumbers and other protected vegetable crops. Spray and Drench applications

Use with outdoor crops

Protects against:

• PRESTOP® has an EAMU covering numerous outdoor crops. Before using PRESTOP on any outdoor crop (other than strawberry) please consult the relevant details in the EAMU Please Note: Some crops can only be treated at particular growth stages. Please check the EAMU document before application.

Using a water powered diluter If you are using a water powered diluter we have put together some example rates of use to make life simpler when setting up to use with PRESTOP®.

TOP TIP It is advisable to remove fine mesh filters from within dosing, irrigation and spraying equipment so as not to filter out any of the beneficial microorganisms when applying PRESTOP®.

Rates of use: • Example rate of use is 5g/Litre (100g in 20L ) Final concentration. • For set up example: 2.5kg in 10Litres water and set diluter to 50:1 • Please note: PRESTOP® needs to be mixed into a cream before adding water and then needs to be constantly agitated whilst applying
